Building Your Web

Home Portfolio Design Building

As we begin to develop your website, we will integrate 2 basic plans:

 Yours and Ours

We'll each have our own set of assignments which we'll use to build a great site together.

Your Job

Basically your job is to provide all the verbal content that is to appear on the site, along with any proprietary artwork or images.

Our Job

Our job is to take that material and transform it into an organized, cohesive, and appealing visual package.

These are the key elements we must each consider.

Our Job

Navigation

The most important aspect of your website will be its usability, and the ease with which your viewer will be able to get from one page to another. In particular you'll want your customers to be able to find quickly what they're interested in seeing.  The "3-click" rule applies - your customer should never be more than 3 clicks away from getting to any information on your site.  It's our job to make sure pages load quickly and links work properly. Without he ability to navigate effectively, you may as well forget having a website

Appeal

The Internet experience is intended to be one of interest and enjoyment. Making the website appealing from its design as well as its content is key to its success.  The aesthetics and theme of your site will be a reflection of you and your business.  Based on your preferences, we will design a layout to be used consistently, and with the appropriate amount of pizzazz to hold your audience's attention, and keep them coming back.  If you can't hold their attention, they wont read the content.

Communication

It is our job to translate and convert your content into a website environment that delivers the message effectively.  It  also may sound obvious, but on each page there should be a way for your viewer to be able to determine how to reach you.  They should know where you are located, and how you can be contacted quickly.  Your website will also be coded correctly to allow for optimized search results when someone is trying to find your site.

Compatibility

The site will be designed for your particular Audience. This is a challenge since web pages look quite a bit different when viewed on one computer from another. The type of  user's browser (Netscape, Explorer, etc.), the version of their browser, their monitor settings, and their computer type (Windows, Mac) will determine exactly how the page looks on their screen, including fonts, colors, and size. The variability of these factors can be minimized to meet the viewing needs of your customers.

Simplicity

Need we really say it?  "Keep it Simple!"  So many of today's websites, including many world-class companies and organizations, which should know better, overwhelm the viewer with way too much information on the screen at one time. We will stay focused on maintaining a crisp and clean approach, with a minimum of distracting elements.

As we consult with you and build your web, we will stay focused with you on the following principles:

Your Job

Purpose

Determine what the purpose of the web site is. What is it exactly that you want to say or sell?

Audience

Determine who your audience is.  Whom do you want to attract?  And what do you want in return?

Content

You are ultimately the one who will decide what image you want to project.  The "content" of the material to be placed on the website is under your complete control.  You know your business better than anyone else, so be sure to identify the key points that need to be communicated.

Research

Do your research. What are the facts or information you want to include?  What meaning does it have to your customer?  Do we have the right stuff?

Delivery

Deliver the message effectively. What will drive home the point?  What makes it unique or compelling?  What benefit is there for your customers?  Will they have a reason to react? And don't forget -  "Keep it Simple!"  Stay focused on the task and schedule.
